A Welcome from the Club Captains

Welcome from the Club Captain

A warm welcome to St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club. We are moving into our 95th year as a Golf Club in the heart of Cambridgeshire, some 88 of those years as a tough 9-hole course in the centre of St Ives. Those who played the 'old' 9-hole course have very fond memories of the course and the great times that were had upon it.
Visitors were always going to 'murder' it - they never did - an out of bounds on 8 of the 9 holes made sure of that! In 2010 we moved to the outskirts of the Town and established an 18 hole 'Links Style' course which was designed by the acclaimed designer Cameron Sinclair.

The area of land the course has been established on is the largest of any new golf course in England for many years some 230 acres. The advantage of this being that there was room to build holes and not interfere with other holes, no cross overs or long walks to tees. You can often be on a hole and not be aware that any other groups are playing! Recent additions of sleepers to the ponds on 1st and 12th are aesthetically pleasing but also make the shot over them a tad more intimidating. There is no doubt that the course is also a different tough test of golf, compared to the 'old' course, with the wind being a massive factor in protecting it.
A handicap at St Ives tends to travel very well!

During the year there is a good selection of Club Matches, Mixed Matches, CAGU Matches and Club Competitions. If you mix this in with a variety of social events and an excellent Team of staff, then you have yourself a very complete Golf Club.

I hope you enjoy your golf in 2018

All the best

Junior Section

Welcome to the Junior Section of St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club. It's an exciting time for junior golf here at St Ives. After a break of several years, in 2017 the club entered a team in the Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union (CAGU) league division 2. August 2017 saw the appointment of our new PGA Coach, Matt Leach who has been actively developing the coaching programme for junior golfers. Looking ahead to 2018, we are working hard to further develop junior golf at the club. Matt will be using the Golf Foundation's Junior Golf Passport to provide a structured coaching programme for newcomers to the game. He will also be developing our coaching programme for more experienced junior golfers, supplemented by on-course practice and a schedule of competitions for all abilities. On top of that we also plan to hold a number of social events for our junior golfers.

Junior membership at St Ives (Hunts) Golf Club costs only £50 per year which represents fantastic value.
For that you get access to our great course and practice facilities, as well as access to first class coaching, competitions and the opportunity to represent the club in team events. (we may want to add to this following the October evening when we have some ideas from our junior members about the membership offer that they'd like). If you're thinking of taking up the game, why not come and have a look at what we have to offer. You can contact the Junior Section Committee by email at sigcjuniors@gmail.com
